About UWC Ghana
United World College (UWC) schools, colleges and programmes deliver a challenging and transformative educational experience to a diverse cross-section of students, inspiring them to create a more peaceful and sustainable future. The Ghanaian National Committee (GNC or NC) is responsible for selecting qualified Ghanaian students on merit to attend United World Colleges. We also support these students while at their colleges, and raise awareness of UWC movement in the country.
The NC was formed in 1971 in Accra, and this was the year the first batch of students from Ghana went to UWC (Atlantic college). The committee has since been very active in selecting qualified Ghanaian students for UWCs. It is made of alumni and non-alumni volunteers over the years. These individuals commit their time and other resources to run the committee.
